Wireline Product Development
Since it was founded over 30 years ago, Sondex has developed its
own unique technology to provide solutions at the forefront of downhole
innovation.
Our Product Design and Development programme is coordinated by Project
Managers with practical oilfield experience, within a skills-based
organisational structure. In this way technically excellent and
coherent tool architecture can be maintained within products which are
perfectly aligned to each field requirement.
Developments are conducted in line with ISO9001 principles, including
full verification and validation design reviews. The release of
finished designs, and subsequent modifications, is carefully controlled
through a secure engineering database.
Project Management Group
Experienced ex-Wireline Engineers control the overall engineering
programme, as well as individual projects. This team is supplemented
with technical authors who ensure that designs are fully documented
both for the field and for manufacturing assembly and test.
Mechanical Design Group
This Group includes highly qualified engineers, designers and
draftsmen. The department uses Solidworks 3D Computer Aided Design,
with simulation modelling capability. A simultaneous engineering
approach ensures that designs are optimised for the manufacturing
process.
Electronic Design Group
This group is the powerhouse for the wide range of instrumentation
requirements inside Sondex tools, including special projects for
individual customers, and downhole memory units for slickline logging.
Sensor Design Group
Key developments are conducted, often involving mathematical modelling
and sensor physics. Significant work carried out recently includes
downhole signal processing for Ultrasonic and Magnetic sensors, and the
surface processing algorithms used in our telemetry system.
Software and Systems Group
Acquisition and post-processing software forms an increasingly
important part of any measurement technology. An expert group develops
and maintains our capabilities, including the software to support both
surface data acquisition and downhole memory logging. Products
developed include Memlog, MITView and MITPro.
