The Sondex Tractor is used on mono-conductor wireline in highly deviated wells for conveyance of wireline equipment such as logging tools or perforating guns. Simple to use and easy to transport, the device can operate in varying well diameters and has constant communication with the surface, giving absolute control.
The slim and powerful Modular Downhole Tractor operates with a pulling force of up to 600lb. The only Surface Equipment needed is a small power panel and a notebook computer. The system is operated and controlled by MULEDriver software, which also provides a real-time display of tractor status during operation. For investigating the viability of a tractor job before deployment, WEST predictive software is available. This software will show if a particular combination of tools and cable can be expected safely to reach, and be retrieved from, the required depth. During a job, force predictions can be monitored against real-time data, indicating potential problems, eg from collapse or debris.
